New Vocational Training Plan by Labour Ministry: Enhancing Workforce Skills in Oman’s Governorates for Business Growth

Salalah: Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, has announced the Ministry’s plans for a new generation of specialized training and development programs tailored to meet the needs of each governorate. These initiatives are designed to enhance human capital and align skill development with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Speaking at the 11th Annual Human Development Conference in Salalah, Al Busaidi outlined that each governorate will benefit from customized training initiatives aimed at cultivating local leadership and technical expertise that address specific regional development needs. He described this endeavor as a strategic move towards decentralized, results-focused training.

Additionally, he highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to establish clear vocational pathways starting from intermediate school. These pathways will empower Omani youth to pursue education that aligns with their interests and the economic priorities of their communities. Each governorate is set to leverage its unique strengths, with vocational colleges and training centers offering programs tailored to local needs.

“We are currently piloting two models to create a comprehensive vocational track that connects education with employment and enhances job readiness among our youth,” Al Busaidi stated. He emphasized that these initiatives build on past successes, with a renewed focus on improving training quality and expanding developmental impact.

In conclusion, Al Busaidi reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to empowering Omanis across all governorates, asserting that these targeted programs mark a transformative phase in national workforce development, grounded in the principles of specialization, decentralization, and readiness for the future.
