Oman and Philippines Forge New Trade Ties: Key Investment Opportunities in Cebu for Entrepreneurs and Investors
Cebu: The Oman-Cebu Investment Forum, convened in Cebu City, Philippines, showcased promising opportunities for trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of the Philippines. Organized by Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and local authorities in Cebu, the forum aimed to strengthen ties between the two nations.
In his opening remarks, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the need to transform the long-standing friendship between Oman and the Philippines into robust trade and investment partnerships. He highlighted the potential for collaboration across various sectors, including green and renewable energy, logistics, tourism, real estate, food production, healthcare, artificial intelligence, robotics, IT, and data centers.
Sayyid Badr also recognized the Filipino community in Oman, noting approximately 50,000 Filipinos reside and work in the Sultanate, where they experience a safe and respectful environment. He framed this community as a significant humanitarian link that could serve as a foundation for expanded cooperation beyond the labor sector.
The inaugural Oman-Cebu Investment Forum aimed to enhance cultural, commercial, tourism, and investment relations between the two countries. It served as a platform for exchanging ideas and fostering economic partnerships among stakeholders from both public and private sectors.
