Sri Lanka Grants Free Tourist Visa to Omani Citizens: What This Means for Business and Investment Opportunities Between Oman and Sri Lanka
Muscat: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman announced that the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka will grant free tourist visas to Omani citizens, effective from May 25, 2026.
Omani travellers will be able to enter Sri Lanka via the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system without paying visa fees. The visa permits a stay of up to 30 days and allows two entries within this period.
The 30-day stay starts from the date of the traveller’s first arrival in Sri Lanka. In case of a second entry, the visitor may stay only for the remaining duration of the original 30-day allowance. Extensions beyond this period are possible by paying the applicable visa extension fees.
The Ministry advises Omani citizens planning to visit Sri Lanka to ensure their passports have a minimum validity of six months from the date of entry. Additionally, travellers are recommended to secure health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay.

The introduction of free tourist visas for Omanis traveling to Sri Lanka opens significant opportunities for Omani businesses in travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors, fostering increased bilateral exchanges. Smart investors should consider tapping into this emerging tourist flow by developing tailored travel packages, hospitality services, and wellness tourism deals. However, they must also be mindful of geopolitical and health safety factors when promoting cross-border travel.
