Oman Centre for Commercial Arbitration Unveils New Identity: Implications for Business Dispute Resolution in Oman
MUSCAT, JUNE 10 — The Oman Centre for Commercial Arbitration (OCCA), a subsidiary of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), unveiled its new corporate identity on June 10, 2026. This rebranding initiative was highlighted as a pivotal moment in the Centre’s history, underscoring its commitment to enhancing its reputation as a premier institution for resolving commercial disputes in line with the highest international standards.
During the announcement, the Centre revealed plans to host an arbitration competition and the second edition of the “Muscat Arbitration Days,” scheduled for December 7 to 9 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The event took place under the patronage of Muneer bin Ali al Muneeri, Vice President of Operations at the Oman Investment Authority. Attendees included Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, OCCI Chairman, as well as numerous undersecretaries, dignitaries, and a distinguished gathering of legal professionals, arbitrators, investors, and other stakeholders.
Shaikh Al Rawas emphasized the increasing significance and influence of the Oman Centre for Commercial Arbitration this year, particularly due to the backing it has received from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The Sultan’s directive has positioned the Centre as the official body responsible for standard contracts and government commercial agreements. He noted that the total value of cases managed by the Centre has surpassed $360 million, a testament to the growing trust in its services for commercial dispute resolution.
Dr. Khalid bin Salim al Saidi, Chairman of the OCCA Board of Directors, stated that commercial arbitration has evolved beyond being just an alternative method of dispute resolution. It has become a critical element of the modern business landscape, essential for bolstering investor confidence and fostering economic stability. He added that the Centre is committed to refining its institutional and regulatory frameworks to adapt to the fast-paced changes within global trade and investment, ensuring alignment with the best practices adopted by leading international arbitration organizations.
Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser al Mandhari, CEO of the Centre, introduced the new visual identity, which features a logo and color scheme that reflects symmetrical geometric patterns inspired by traditional Omani Islamic architecture. This design choice aims to enhance the Centre’s national identity and expand its institutional presence both locally and internationally.
Looking ahead, the Centre’s plans include the arbitration competition and the second edition of “Muscat Arbitration Days,” which is anticipated to draw over 1,500 participants. The event will showcase more than 60 specialized institutions and centers, feature over 50 expert speakers, and host more than 15 panel discussions covering a wide range of commercial arbitration and dispute resolution topics.
Additionally, the ceremony marked the launch of the revised Arbitration Rules for 2026, alongside the unveiling of the Centre’s 2025 Annual Report. Since its establishment, OCCA has developed a robust network of 150 arbitrators, mediators, and experts in various fields related to arbitration and dispute resolution, and has successfully entered into 18 local and international Memoranda of Understanding to enhance cooperation and expertise in the commercial arbitration domain.
