MUSCAT: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) will host the 17th Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) Summit in Muscat from February 2 to 4, 2026. The event will be held under the theme “Islamic Finance for the Future: Unlocking New Horizons with Global Impact.”

The summit aims to assemble central banks, regulators, international organisations, and industry leaders to discuss the expanding role of Islamic finance in creating a stable, ethical, and sustainable global financial system.

Key topics for panel discussions include the development of the sukuk market, strengthening non-banking financial sectors, financial inclusion, social impact, and climate change. Dialogue sessions will also engage private-sector leaders, government agencies, NGOs, and youth representatives. An exhibition running alongside the summit will showcase contributions from prominent players in the Islamic finance industry.

Ahmed bin Ja’afar al Musallami, Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, described the summit as a “strategic turning point” that will enhance understanding of global economic shifts and foster innovation-driven cooperation. He emphasized that the event will boost the resilience of the Islamic finance sector and guide it toward inclusive and sustainable growth.

Dr Ghiath Shabsieh, Secretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board, highlighted the summit as a vital global platform for sharing insights on emerging trends in Islamic finance. He noted that Oman’s role as host reflects its increasing influence in shaping the future of the industry and promoting its worldwide adoption. — ONA

Oman’s hosting of the 17th IFSB Summit signals a strategic opportunity for the country to position itself as a regional hub for Islamic finance innovation and sustainability. Businesses should anticipate increased access to Islamic financial products and partnerships, while investors must consider the growing emphasis on ethical finance, social impact, and climate-conscious investments. Smart entrepreneurs and policymakers alike should leverage this momentum to foster financial inclusion and attract global stakeholders, driving long-term economic resilience and growth in Oman.
