Impact of Oman News Agency’s Latest Announcement: Key Insights for Investors and Entrepreneurs
Geneva, July 11 — The Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, organized an exhibition titled “Cultural Exchange: From Oman to the World.” This event marks Oman’s participation in the 66th session of the member states’ assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), being held in Geneva from July 8 to 17.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Salih bin Said Misan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, and Hassan Klib, Deputy Director General of WIPO.
In his speech, Ambassador Idris bin Abdul Rahman Al-Khanjari, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the UN and international organizations in Geneva, expressed that the exhibition embodies the journey of Omani culture and presents its beauty, diversity, and authenticity to the world. He emphasized that culture is not merely a heritage but a bridge for understanding and a wide scope for dialogue among peoples. The exhibition serves as an opportunity to share the spirit of Oman, reflecting its values, arts, and stories, which showcase the depth of the Omani identity and its connections with others.
Dr. Misan also expressed his pride in hosting the exhibition, which celebrates Oman’s rich traditions passed down through generations, serving as an inspiration for all Omanis. He highlighted Oman’s intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, alongside its cultural and creative industries that showcase Omani innovation, including traditional music, women’s traditional attire, and Omani hospitality, all of which symbolize the generosity and welcoming spirit of the Omani people.
Hassan Klib praised Oman’s rich history and unique cultural heritage, commending the strong relationship between Oman and WIPO. He noted the leading projects that have been implemented in collaboration with WIPO, which aim to enhance awareness and development of intellectual property in support of the national economy. He specifically mentioned the Omani frankincense project و ال National Intellectual Property Strategy, as well as ongoing collaboration with various sectors, ministries, and universities in Oman.
Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, visited the exhibition, exploring its contents and engaging with presenters while capturing memorable photographs.
The exhibition, which opened on July 8 and will continue until July 17, highlights various cultural areas, including a section on intangible cultural heritage, promoting elements recognized by UNESCO through a photo exhibition, along with an innovative video presentation.
Additionally, the exhibition features a section on cultural and creative industries, showcasing Oman’s efforts in this sector, introducing available investment opportunities, and presenting detailed information in a modern format.
A section dedicated to traditional music presents the cultural expressions of Oman, featuring live performances on the oud و qanun. Furthermore, there is a section on traditional women’s attire, which showcases the diverse traditional dresses of Omani women, embodying the national identity through a display of garments from various provinces of Oman.
