New Industrial Bakery Launching at Khazaen Economic City: Implications for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman

MUSCAT, JANUARY 13 – Food Development Company, a subsidiary of Salalah Mills Company, is set to inaugurate its industrial bakery at Khazaen Economic City in Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate, on January 14, 2026. The event will be held under the patronage of Eng. Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, the Governor of Al Batinah South, and will see attendance from officials at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, as well as dignitaries from the region.

The establishment of the industrial bakery aims to bolster the food manufacturing sector in Oman, enhance the national food security framework, and satisfy the demands of local and regional markets while adhering to the highest international standards.

Strategically positioned within Khazaen Economic City, this facility is recognized as one of the most advanced industrial projects specializing in integrated fresh and frozen bakery solutions. Its target clientele includes vital sectors such as hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, catering services, and airlines throughout Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, with aspirations to also penetrate markets in Asia and Africa.

The project represents a total investment of approximately RO 25 million, covering a land area of 20,000 square meters and a built-up area of 24,000 square meters. The bakery boasts ten modern production lines capable of a daily output of up to 80 tonnes, alongside a storage capacity of 1,836 pallet positions, which amounts to roughly 2,000 tonnes.

Food Development Company utilizes cutting-edge global industrial technologies while adhering to stringent international standards for quality and food safety. The facility has garnered several internationally recognized certifications, including HACCP, FSSC 22000, Halal certification, and the Made in Oman accreditation.

The company’s operational vision is rooted in the legacy and expertise of the Salalah Mills Group, aiming to blend traditional craftsmanship with industrial precision. This approach emphasizes the delivery of high-quality bakery products that marry authentic taste with user-friendly preparation, catering to diverse market expectations.
