ITHCA’s $20M Investment in US Firm Movandi: Implications for Oman’s Tech Hub Ambitions

المسكات عنب طيب الشذا – ITHCA Group from Oman has invested US$20 million (تقريبًا RO 7.7 million) in Movandi, a US-based company, to enhance the Sultanate’s semiconductor and smart communications ecosystem in alignment with رؤية عُمان 2040. This initiative includes plans to establish a national innovation center dedicated to chip technology and smart connectivity, as well as to promote knowledge transfer and talent development in the region. Additionally, the investment will support Movandi’s new research and development office in Muscat, which will focus on AI-enabled communications.

Eng. Said bin Abdullah Al Mandhari, CEO of ITHCA, stated that this partnership is indicative of their commitment to forge strong relationships with leading global technology firms and to cultivate a local ecosystem that positions Oman as a regional hub for future technologies and the digital economy.

Maryam Rofougaran, co-founder of Movandi, emphasized that this collaboration creates a strategic connection between Silicon Valley and Oman, aiming to advance the development of next-generation communications, including 5G, satellite communications, and fixed wireless access (FWA), all supported by innovative semiconductor technology.

Movandi specializes in RF chipsets, beamforming systems, and smart antennas designed to enhance network performance while reducing costs in both urban and remote areas. With ITHCA’s backing, the Muscat office will function as a center for research, development, and regional collaboration in smart communications and artificial intelligence.
