صلالة: Oman has launched a new 10-year "Golden Residency" program aimed at attracting foreign investment and specialized talent through seven defined pathways, with a minimum investment threshold of RO200,000. This initiative was outlined in an official presentation on Sunday.
The Golden Residency program seeks to support long-term investors and skilled professionals, intending to boost private-sector growth, facilitate job creation, and enhance knowledge transfer in alignment with Oman Vision 2040. Those who successfully apply will receive a residency valid for ten years, which includes first-degree family members without restrictions on their number or age.
Qualifications for Residency
Applicants can qualify through any of the following avenues, each requiring an investment of RO200,000 or more:

Company Establishment: At least one year of incorporation with the applicant’s stake in total assets valued at RO200,000 or more.

Property in Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs): Ownership of completed residential, commercial, or tourism properties with a title deed; if owned through a company, a certified final balance sheet must be provided.

Government Development Bonds: Bonds in the applicant’s name that must have at least two years remaining until maturity.

Listed Equities: Shareholdings with a market value of at least RO200,000, registered to the applicant.

Fixed Bank Deposit: An amount of RO200,000 or greater placed in a bank for five years, renewable in five-year increments throughout the residency term.

Companies Employing 50 or More Omanis: Ownership of a business with a minimum of 50 Omani employees and a capital investment of at least RO200,000.
- Foreign Investment Law Companies: Firms registered under Oman’s foreign investment regulations with capital of at least RO200,000 may nominate a partner or senior professional for investor residency; multiple nominations are allowed as capital increases.
Program Benefits
Key benefits of the Golden Residency include:
- Fast-track access at airports and border crossings.
- Inclusion of first-degree family members without limits on number or age.
- The ability to own one property outside ITCs (either residential, commercial, or industrial), subject to standard restrictions on areas closed to non-Omani ownership; this property right is transferable.
- Permission to hire up to three domestic workers.
- The capacity to issue visit visas for family members.
Marketing and Outreach
To promote this initiative internationally, the government has partnered with Alam Al-Hijrah (Migration World), an accredited consultancy established in 2007. The consultancy operates across 60 locations worldwide, including North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and is tasked with conducting digital campaigns, engaging in significant investor events, and forming strategic alliances alongside the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion.
By linking residency qualifications to verifiable financial commitments, such as bonds, deposits, equities, real estate, and business formation, the program aims to channel investment into priority sectors, develop high-value projects, and bolster Oman’s reputation as a stable and investor-friendly destination under Vision 2040.
