Oman’s Industrial Sector Surges in Q2 2025: What This Growth Means for Investors and Business Owners

MUSCAT, SEPTEMBER 7 — Oman’s industrial sector demonstrated exceptional growth in the second quarter of 2025, with net profits of companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange soaring to RO 24.47 million. This marks a substantial increase of over 476 percent compared to RO 4.25 million in the same period last year.

This significant performance underscores the sector’s resilience and adaptability to economic shifts, solidifying its role as a foundation of the national economy. Key contributors to this growth included OQ Basic Industries (OQBI), which reversed a loss of RO 3.38 million in Q2 2024 to report a record profit of RO 9.95 million. Al Jazeera Steel posted a 168 percent profit rise to RO 2.05 million, while Voltamp Energy earned RO 2.69 million. Oman Refreshments achieved an impressive 822 percent increase to RO 1.23 million, and Oman Flour Mills recorded a 23 percent profit increase.

Despite these gains, some companies encountered structural difficulties. Oman Cement’s profits declined by 32 percent to RO 1.76 million, and Majan Glass saw its losses deepen to RO 0.39 million. Nevertheless, companies such as Dhofar Food and Raysut Cement showed signs of operational recovery, reflecting gradual improvement.

Khalid bin Salim al Qasabi, Director General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, highlighted that the sector’s robust Q2 performance emphasizes the need for continued investment in manufacturing, innovation, and technology. He also stressed the importance of strategic mergers and alliances, particularly for industries facing operational challenges.

Jasim bin Saif al Jadidi, Technical Director at the Office of the Under-Secretary for Commerce and Industry, pointed out that key segments like basic industries, consumer goods, and energy are driving manufacturing momentum and exemplifying the sector’s strength.

Overall, the Q2 2025 results highlight the industrial sector’s potential for sustainable growth, boosting confidence in its ongoing contribution to Oman’s GDP and economic diversification. — ONA

Oman’s industrial sector’s extraordinary 476% profit surge in Q2 2025 signals robust opportunities for businesses to capitalize on manufacturing and energy growth, especially in basic industries and consumer goods. However, the contrasting performance of companies like Oman Cement and Majan Glass highlights structural risks, urging investors and entrepreneurs to prioritize innovation and strategic partnerships to navigate sectoral challenges and sustain long-term growth.
