MUSCAT: OQ Base Industries and Oman Oil Marketing Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaboratively explore alternative and sustainable energy solutions, reinforcing the transformation of Oman’s energy sector.
The agreement emphasizes the evaluation and development of opportunities in solar energy, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, biofuels, and cleaner fuel alternatives. These efforts align with Oman’s sustainability goals and the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Under the terms of the MoU, both companies will assess the potential implementation of solar power technologies and the feasibility of establishing EV charging stations. The partnership will also explore the use of biofuels for OQ Base Industries’ vehicle fleet and investigate blending methanol with vehicle fuel as a prospective energy option.
The collaboration establishes a framework for technical discussions, commercial assessments, information sharing, and joint feasibility studies. It also paves the way for pilot projects and future initiatives focused on alternative energy and sustainability.
Combining OQ Base Industries’ expertise in producing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), methanol, and ammonia with Oman Oil Marketing Company’s strengths in fuel distribution, lubricants, and direct fuel sales, the partnership aims to drive innovation and operational efficiency.

He highlighted that the partnership will facilitate practical opportunities in alternative energy, EV infrastructure, and cleaner fuels.
