Renewable Energy Programme Empowers 50 Omani Youth with Skills for Future Job Market Growth
SUHAR: The Youth Center, in collaboration with SOHAR Port and Freezone, has successfully concluded the Sustainability and Renewable Energy Programme. This initiative saw the participation of 50 young men and women, including graduates from scientific and engineering fields, as well as entrepreneurs with a keen interest in clean energy and sustainability. The programme ran from April 26 to June 10.
The primary objective was to equip youth with essential knowledge about hydrogen and its critical role in the energy sector’s transition and decarbonisation efforts. Participants also deepened their understanding of energy sustainability, energy efficiency, and the integration of renewable and conventional energy sources to achieve a well-balanced energy mix.
Additionally, the programme aimed to foster innovative thinking, enabling participants to develop projects, initiatives, and practical solutions focused on sustainable energy, hydrogen, and emissions reduction.
Bridging theory with practice, the programme featured workshops and examined local, regional, and international case studies. It also prepared young talents to meet the demands and job opportunities of the evolving energy and sustainability sectors.
The partnership between the Youth Center and SOHAR Port and Freezone is committed to offering ongoing specialised programmes that support the aspirations of Omani youth. This collaboration seeks to enhance youth capabilities in alignment with labour market needs and the Sultanate of Oman’s development plans. — ONA
