The pair’s fraudulent scheme involved soliciting bank transfers from victims as down payments to secure reservations. To obscure their identities and avoid detection, they utilized false names and contact information. Legal proceedings against the suspects are currently underway.
Dhofar: In a related development, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has issued a warning about social media influencers and promoters who have been advertising unlicensed facilities and properties. Engaging with these unapproved venues could result in legal repercussions.
MHT advises all visitors to the Dhofar Governorate to verify that their chosen tourist facilities are licensed prior to making any reservations. This ensures service quality, competitive pricing, and the protection of tenants’ rights. Additionally, the Ministry offers a list of licensed tourist facilities, which can be accessed by scanning a QR code.
