IHG Hotels & Resorts Unveils Plans for voco Muscat Al Mouj

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a management agreement to develop voco Muscat Al Mouj, a new beachfront hotel featuring 251 keys scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025. This partnership with Golden Group Holding marks the debut of the voco brand in Oman, further enhancing IHG’s premium offerings within the Middle East.

The hotel aims to serve both leisure and business travelers, strategically located for easy access to Muscat International Airport and the city’s cultural attractions, thereby positioning itself as a key player in Oman’s evolving hospitality sector.

Launched in 2018, voco is IHG’s fastest-growing premium brand. It has established a strong presence with new openings and signings across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Known for its unique character and thoughtful design, the brand combines individual hotel charm with the consistency of a trusted global name, ensuring guests a uniquely different experience. Upon its opening, voco Muscat Al Mouj will be part of a portfolio exceeding 100 operational hotels worldwide, backed by a robust pipeline of over 95 planned properties.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts for India, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture: "We are delighted to bring the voco brand to Oman in partnership with Golden Group Holding. Al Mouj Muscat is one of the region’s most vibrant lifestyle destinations, and we believe voco’s distinctive charm and premium hospitality will be a perfect fit. This signing reflects our commitment to Oman Vision 2040, supporting the country’s tourism and economic diversification goals."

Sheikh Salem Al Ghazal, Chairman of Golden Group Holding, remarked on the partnership: “Collaborating with IHG to introduce voco to Oman is a significant milestone in our mission to enhance Muscat’s hospitality scene. The informal charm and global quality of voco resonate perfectly with the dynamic spirit of Al Mouj. We are excited to deliver a hotel that embodies excellence, showcases Omani hospitality, and attracts global travelers."

When completed, voco Muscat Al Mouj will feature 251 intricately designed rooms and suites, offering five unique dining options, including an all-day dining venue, a specialty restaurant, and a lobby lounge. Additionally, the hotel will provide three meeting rooms, a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a business center, ample parking, and a barber shop, ensuring a comprehensive premium experience for guests.

Currently, IHG operates nine hotels in Oman across five brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, and Holiday Inn, with three more hotels in the development pipeline expected to open within the next three to five years.
