Oman Kite Festival 2025 Wraps Up in Sur: Boosting Tourism and Business Opportunities in Oman

The Oman Kite Festival 2025 concluded after ten days of exciting competitions and vibrant events held along several coastal locations across the Sultanate of Oman. Running from July 15 to 24, the festival attracted over 90 athletes from around the world.

Organized by OMRAN Group in collaboration with Oman Sail, Visit Oman, and the Oman Adventure Centre, the festival aimed to promote adventure and experience-driven tourism by showcasing Oman’s diverse coastal landscapes. It also sought to support the development of unique tourism offerings throughout the country.

The closing ceremony took place at The Beachfront in Sur, South Al Sharqiyah, under the patronage of Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah. The event was attended by Dr. Khamis Salim Al Jabri, CEO of Oman Sail, along with senior representatives from OMRAN Group and festival sponsors.

The festival featured 90 international athletes competing in a series of thrilling races. The highlight was the multi-stage “Oman Downwinder” race, which consisted of four legs: from Barr Al Hikman to Masirah Island, then from Masirah to Ras Al Ruwais, followed by the route from the Pink Lagoons to Al Ashkharah, and finally from Ras Al Jinz to Ras Al Hadd.

Other notable events included the “Kite Course” race along Barr Al Hikman’s shores, the “Coastal Race” around Masirah Island, and the “Slalom” contest in Ras Al Hadd.
