Oman LNG Achieves Record Production and Safety in 2024: What This Means for Investors and the Energy Sector

MUSCAT: Oman LNG has reported its highest production output ever in 2024, achieving an exceptional plant efficiency rate of 98.23%. This accomplishment reflects the company’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

CEO Hamad bin Mohammed al Naamany announced that Oman LNG is entering a new phase of expansion, highlighted by the introduction of long-term sales contracts that will incorporate supplies from both Oman LNG and Qalhat LNG.

These advancements are supported by significant upgrades and maintenance efforts designed to enhance the company’s performance and competitiveness in the global market.

In 2024, Oman LNG also transitioned to a new commercial strategy, securing long-term contracts totaling 10.4 million metric tonnes annually. This robust framework establishes a flexible and diversified portfolio, enabling the company to uphold reliable supply commitments while also being responsive to short-term market opportunities. Such adaptability strengthens the value offered to partners and reinforces Oman’s role in ensuring global energy security.

Al Naamany underscored the company’s contributions toward achieving Oman’s carbon neutrality targets by 2050. The year saw Oman LNG attain its best-ever energy efficiency and earn the “Golden Path” recognition from the United Nations Environment Programme for its efforts in reducing methane emissions. This acknowledgment highlights the company’s leadership in producing low-carbon LNG.

To further support its climate goals, Oman LNG is investing in cost-effective energy efficiency technologies and developing long-term emissions management strategies. Additionally, the company is collaborating with local universities on research and development projects, including hydrogen fusion and a pilot methane initiative aimed at exploring new clean energy solutions.

In terms of safety, Oman LNG has recorded over 27 million work hours without a lost time injury and achieved more than 3,500 consecutive days without any operational safety incidents. The company’s safety programs align with the Oman Energy Association (OPAL) to maintain industry-leading standards.

Beyond its operational successes, Oman LNG remains dedicated to national development and social responsibility. — ONA
