Eid al-Adha Boosts Tourism: Over 17,000 Visitors in Wadi Bani Khalid – What It Means for Local Businesses in Oman

Muscat: As summer temperatures rise, Oman’s picturesque wadis have become favorite destinations for both residents and visitors. Among them, Wadi Bani Khalid stands out as one of the most frequented natural water sites in the Sultanate. During the Eid al-Adha holiday, from June 5 to 9, the site attracted a total of 17,021 visitors, according to data released by the Al Sharqiyah North Governorate.

The visitor breakdown showed that Asian nationals comprised the largest group with 16,450 individuals, followed by Omanis at 246, Europeans with 182, Arabs from non-GCC countries numbering 125, and 18 visitors from GCC states.

The report also highlighted 11 rescue incidents occurring during the holiday period, underscoring the importance of greater safety awareness among tourists.

With its cool waters and verdant surroundings, Wadi Bani Khalid continues to provide a refreshing escape from the summer heat, appealing to those seeking both adventure and relaxation. Authorities have called on all visitors to strictly follow safety guidelines to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
