Oman’s Tallest Flagpole Inauguration: What It Means for Business and Investment Opportunities in Oman
Muscat Municipality has announced that the tallest flagpole in Oman, located at Al Khuwair Square, will be inaugurated in four days.
Ahmed al Humaidi, chairman of Muscat Municipality, previously revealed that the project, developed in collaboration with the private sector at a cost of 10 million Omani rials, is set to open this May.
Standing at 126 meters, the flagpole will be the tallest man-made structure in Oman’s history, comparable in height to a 40-story building. Constructed from iron and requiring 135 tonnes of steel, the flagpole’s base has an outer diameter of 2,800 mm, tapering to 900 mm at the top. The Omani flag it will display measures 18 meters in length and 31.5 meters in width. Additionally, the flagpole will be equipped with a warning light system for aircraft safety.
The entire Al Khuwair Square project spans over 18,000 square meters and includes numerous recreational amenities, such as grassy areas, palm trees, walking and cycling paths, an outdoor exhibition space, and a skateboarding zone.
