Khazaen Port Joins CMA CGM Network: What This Means for Trade and Logistics in Oman
Khazaen Dry Port Joins CMA CGM Global Shipping Network
Khazaen Dry Port, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, has officially become part of the global shipping network "CMA CGM." This partnership positions the port as an approved final destination for container shipments.
This strategic move significantly enhances the port’s connectivity with international shipping lines, providing local importers and exporters with access to a more efficient and flexible global distribution network.
Recently, Khazaen handled its first container shipment under this new arrangement, which arrived from international ports via Sohar Port, functioning as a transit hub. Thanks to its advanced operational readiness and state-of-the-art technical infrastructure, customs clearance and handling procedures were efficiently completed directly at Khazaen Port.
Khazaen Dry Port offers multiple advantages to support both local and international trade. These include free storage periods of up to 14 days for loaded containers and 21 days for empty containers. Additionally, the port provides specialized services for refrigerated containers, including electrical hookups and pre-trip inspections, as well as on-site facilities for food and agricultural inspections. These offerings expedite the entry of goods into local markets and improve supply chain efficiency.
This achievement highlights the fruitful collaboration between Asyad Group, through its Asyad Ports and Free Zones division, and the global "CMA CGM" Group.
The service was implemented via a flexible customs corridor developed in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Customs Department. This corridor enables containers to be transported using a "shipping agent’s seal," bypassing traditional customs sealing procedures. It also offers the option of a "written financial guarantee" as a substitute for bank guarantees, thereby reducing costs for operators and enhancing logistical efficiency.
