Ministry of Labour Hosts Salalah’s Business Leaders: Key Insights for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman

SALALAH: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) convened a meeting with business leaders from Dhofar Governorate on Wednesday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

Organized in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the forum centered on addressing challenges in the labour market.

Dr. Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour, highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry to enhance labour market development tools. He emphasized the support provided to private sector institutions and the various facilities available to businesses.

Dr. Baowain also discussed the Labour Law and related regulations designed to ensure market stability while aligning with global economic progress.

Speaking as part of the Labour Forum 2025, he stressed the need to accelerate work processes in response to current challenges and rapid advancements that benefit markets and human resources.

He underlined that human capital is the key driver of development and progress, noting employment initiatives spearheaded by the Ministry in close partnership with the private sector.

The Minister acknowledged the growing role of the private sector in Dhofar, particularly in tourism, and praised the contributions of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their national workforce within the governorate’s private sector establishments.

Dr. Baowain further emphasized the importance of focusing on entrepreneurial projects related to artificial intelligence and innovation, along with the need to support training programs.

The discussions also covered challenges faced by business owners, especially in SMEs, exploring ways to streamline procedures to help them benefit from available facilities for launching and developing new projects.

The forum also considered Omanisation efforts in specific sectors and strategies for advancing the Omani labour market.
