SALALAH: Salalah Airport experienced a significant increase in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic during the 2025 Khareef season, spanning from June 21 to August 3, compared to the same period last year. According to Oman Airports, total aircraft movements rose by 16 percent, reaching 1,849 flights, up from 1,592 in 2024. Passenger numbers also grew by 5 percent, totaling 288,110 compared to 274,030 last year.
Arrivals saw a 16 percent increase in flights, rising from 795 in 2024 to 925 in 2025, while arriving passengers increased by 3 percent to 158,301. Departures reflected similar growth, with flights up 16 percent from 797 to 924, and departing passengers rising 8 percent to 129,809.
To enhance the passenger experience, Oman Airports introduced new technologies, expanded lounge capacity, and improved hospitality and retail services. Their “Travel Easier” initiative enabled passengers to check in directly from their vehicles, reducing waiting times and increasing convenience.
The rise in traffic underscores the growing tourist appeal of Dhofar Governorate’s Khareef season, famed for its cool climate, seasonal rains, and diverse cultural, heritage, and recreational attractions.
