Wadi Bani Khalid Projects Worth RO24 Million: What This Investment Means for Business Growth in Oman

Wadi Bani Khalid – A series of significant development projects are currently underway in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid, located in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. These initiatives span tourism, road infrastructure, entertainment, and general infrastructure, with a combined investment exceeding RO 24 million.

One of the key projects is the Wadi Bani Khalid Aqaba Road Project, overseen by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT). This project, with a budget of over RO 13 million, involves constructing a 9-kilometer road starting from the Manakh area near the local police station and extending to the village of Muzayri’ in the wilayat center. The project has reached approximately 25% completion and is expected to be operational by the end of 2026. It aims to enhance traffic flow and promote urban, tourism, and economic development in the region.

In addition to this, the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate and other government sectors are implementing various projects. These include paving roads that connect the wilayat to other parts of North Al Sharqiyah and internal roads linking the wilayat’s villages.

Municipal projects include the development of water ponds in the Maqal Tourist Area, covering 10,000 square meters at a cost of RO 2,656,920, and the construction of a visitors’ building spanning 4,000 square meters, budgeted at RO 1,286,507. Both projects are about 7% complete. Other tourism-related developments include the Hawar Tourist Café project (679.68 sqm, RO 153,285, 10% complete) and Khalidiya Park (38,107 sqm, RO 780,672), which is 45% finished.

Several additional projects supervised by the governorate include a multi-purpose hall (1,060 sqm, RO 279,866, 50% complete), a children’s playground (3,038 sqm, RO 70,500, 80% complete), and a mountain tourist walkway stretching 447 meters in length and 2 meters in width, with a budget of RO 39,907, which has been completed.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Junaibi, the Wali of Wadi Bani Khalid, emphasized that these projects collectively enhance the wilayat’s infrastructure and tourism appeal. He highlighted that Wadi Bani Khalid, situated 203 kilometers from Muscat, is a well-known tourist destination. It attracts regular visitors with its scenic water ponds, Muqal Cave, Hawar Waterfalls, and ancient forts, making it an area of cultural and natural significance.

These projects not only aim to improve the quality of life for residents but also to stimulate greater economic and tourism activity in the region.
