Nama PWP Awards Sembcorp Salalah New 10-Year Contract: What This Means for Long-Term Investment Opportunities in Oman

MUSCAT – Sembcorp Industries, through its subsidiary Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company SAOG (SSPWC), has secured a new 10-year Power and Water Purchase Agreement (PWPA) with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP). This agreement will take effect from April 4, 2027, immediately after the current 15-year PWPA expires on April 3, 2027.

The new contract covers a capacity of 465 megawatts of power per hour and 15 million imperial gallons (68,190 cubic metres) of water daily at the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant. SSPWC, which developed, owns, and operates the plant, features a gas-fired combined cycle power facility alongside a reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant.

This award guarantees the continued supply of power and water under mutually agreed commercial terms, reinforcing the strategic partnership between SSPWC and Nama PWP. It also enhances long-term revenue visibility and supports operational sustainability.

Commissioned in May 2012, the plant represents an investment of approximately $1 billion. With an energy portfolio exceeding 1.0 gigawatts in Oman, including gas and renewable assets, Sembcorp is well-positioned to pursue its long-term growth ambitions in the Sultanate.
