Vienna, July 5 — Four German citizens lost their lives today when a small aircraft crashed in a mountainous area near the town of Kühtai, east of Innsbruck, Austria.

According to a statement from the Austrian police, the plane took off from a location near Oberschleißheim, close to Munich, Germany. The type of aircraft and the identities and ages of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

A police spokesperson noted that the weather was clear at the time of the incident; however, the crash occurred in the afternoon, leading to a fire at the crash site.

Firefighting teams reported that the aircraft crashed in a rugged area, and the resulting fire spread to nearby forests, necessitating the involvement of emergency teams from several nearby regions for firefighting and search operations.

A spokesperson for the firefighting service confirmed that the fire remained contained within the forest and was brought under control without any additional injuries reported.
