Oman’s Power Output Surges 9.4%: Key Impacts for Investors and Business Owners

MUSCAT: Total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 9.4 percent, reaching 35,973.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) by the end of August 2025, compared to 32,891 GWh during the same period in 2024, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Net electricity production—which includes electricity purchased by the Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC)—rose by 9 percent to 34,857.4 GWh from 31,990.1 GWh a year earlier.

In contrast, total water production experienced a slight decline of 1 percent, totaling 342.7 million cubic meters, down from 346 million cubic meters in 2024.

Regionally, Muscat Governorate saw an 11.2 percent decrease in water production, dropping to 136.6 million cubic meters. Dhofar Governorate registered a 3.4 percent increase, producing 50.9 million cubic meters. Other governorates collectively recorded an 8.5 percent rise, reaching 155.2 million cubic meters.
