Washington, July 6 – President Donald Trump announced today that Kerr County in Texas has been declared a disaster area after 59 people lost their lives and dozens remain missing due to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
In a post on Truth Social, the President stated, “The goal of this declaration is to ensure that rescue teams receive the resources they need immediately.”
Trump added that families in the county are suffering from an unimaginable tragedy, with lives lost and many still unaccounted for.
The National Weather Service confirmed that the threat of flooding has diminished in parts of Kerr County following the severe thunderstorms experienced in the region on Friday.
Earlier, the agency had declared a state of emergency after the Guadalupe River rose by 8 meters in just 45 minutes, leading to sudden floods that affected summer camps and several residential areas.
