New Oman News Agency Developments: Implications for Investors and Business Growth in Oman

Gaza City, July 7 — Three Palestinians were killed today following aerial bombardments by Israeli forces in the central and western areas of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. This brings the total number of fatalities to 14 Palestinians since the onset of Israeli attacks in various regions of Gaza early this morning.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency, Wafa, reported that one Palestinian was killed in an attack near the Asda Prison northwest of Khan Younis, another in bombings in the town of Bani Suheila east of Khan Younis, and a third from gunfire near the Turkish slaughterhouse south of the city.

Additionally, eight Palestinians lost their lives and several others were injured due to Israeli airstrikes on the Al-Rimal Clinic in Gaza City and among those waiting for aid in the central region of the Strip.

Medical sources in Gaza reported that four Palestinians, including a child, were killed, and approximately 15 others injured in an Israeli strike that targeted a room in the Al-Rimal Clinic on Al-Wahda Street west of Gaza City.

Since October 7, 2023, the total number of Palestinians killed due to Israeli aggression in Gaza has reached 57,418, with 136,261 injured. Many others are still trapped under rubble or stranded in the streets, as emergency teams struggle to reach them.

In a separate development, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the concluding statement from the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which addressed the Palestinian cause. The statement called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and complete Israeli withdrawal from the area and all occupied Palestinian territories, aligning with international law.

The ministry urged for immediate international intervention to compel Israel to halt its aggression, which it described as acts of genocide and displacement against the Palestinian people. It emphasized the importance of initiating a political negotiation process to resolve the conflict based on relevant international peace frameworks and the Arab Peace Initiative. This would enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and achieve their legitimate national rights.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that peace in Palestine must be based on a two-state solution. In his remarks at the BRICS summit, he called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, unconditional release of hostages, unimpeded humanitarian assistance, and an end to annexation and violence in the West Bank.

Guterres also expressed concern about the militarization of artificial intelligence, highlighting the pressing need for peace in a world where issues of justice and human rights must guide AI governance. He stated that access to artificial intelligence should not be restricted to a privileged few but should benefit everyone, especially developing countries that need a genuine voice in global AI decision-making.

Efforts are underway to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, with Hamas stating last Friday that their response to the proposed ceasefire has been “positive.” This followed recent comments by the U.S. President indicating that Israel had agreed to the “necessary conditions” to finalize a 60-day truce.
