Agreements Signed at Duqm Economic Forum: What This Means for Investors and Businesses in Oman

The second edition of the Duqm Economic Forum 2025 has commenced under the theme "Duqm Leads Change," attracting over 400 participants and 54 speakers from both inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

During the event, the CEO of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) announced that investment commitments in the zone have surpassed RO 6.3 billion as of mid-2025. The CEO also highlighted the zone’s impressive growth rate, which reached 5.3 percent by mid-2025 compared to the previous year, and 71.8 percent by the end of 2022.

The forum featured the signing of two key memoranda of understanding (MoUs). The first MoU focuses on developing an integrated tourism, residential, and commercial project in Duqm. The second establishes strategic cooperation between the Port of Duqm Company and Japanese shipping giant Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) in maritime transport and port infrastructure development.

Additionally, three agreements were signed at the forum. These include plans for constructing and operating facilities for storing petroleum and chemical products, founding and managing a supply chain management company dedicated to the energy sector, and building a social complex for Marafeq Duqm using cutting-edge 3D printing technology.

The two-day forum centers around three main themes: integrated tourism and lifestyle development; green manufacturing and renewable industries; and smart cities powered by artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
