Launch of ‘Our Safe Home’ Initiative in Al Dakhiliyah: Key Insights for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman

On July 7, the Directorate General for Social Development in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, represented by the Family Development Department, launched the initiative “Our Safe Home.” This initiative aims to promote concepts of family security and establish a home environment filled with understanding, affection, and respect among family members.

The initiative focuses on reinforcing values of family cohesion, encouraging positive dialogue within families, and enhancing shared values that contribute to creating a safe and stable environment supporting the psychological and social growth of all its members.

The initiative included three workshops:

  1. The first workshop, presented by Dr. Hilal bin Salem Al-Abri, a guidance and counseling specialist at Sultan Qaboos University, addressed “How to Find Yourself Amid Comparisons.” It targeted the age group of 13 to 28 years, discussing the characteristics of the future generation, the impact of comparing oneself to others, and tools for psychological balance.

  2. The second workshop was presented by Dr. Kafala bint Hamoud Al-Umariyah, titled “Red Flag.” It highlighted warning signs during the engagement and marriage phases, distinguishing between natural conflicts and warning signs, along with observation mechanisms and self-soothing techniques within the family and community. This session aimed at youth and those preparing for marriage.

  3. The third presentation by Dr. Nahla bint Rashid Al-Shabibi, a faith mentor at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, was titled “Digital Upbringing in a Rapidly Changing World.” It focused on the differences between digital and traditional upbringing, characteristics, and challenges of the digital world, and ways to achieve balance between reality and virtuality, as well as supportive tools for digital education.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Social Development’s efforts to enhance family cohesion and establish principles of constructive dialogue, contributing to psychological and family stability and strengthening community values.

The launch of the “بيتنا الآمن” initiative reflects a growing emphasis on family cohesion and mental well-being in Oman, presenting opportunities for businesses in sectors such as family counseling, education, and wellness services. This initiative also highlights a potential risk for companies, as neglecting the socio-emotional landscape could alienate consumers prioritizing family stability.
