MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, through its Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has welcomed the expansion of the Cruise Arabia Alliance with the addition of Saudi Cruise and Qatar Tourism. This development represents a significant advancement in positioning the Arabian Gulf as a leading global destination for cruise tourism.
The enlarged alliance aims to fully harness the Gulf’s maritime potential by promoting the region as a sustainable and interconnected international cruise hub. It unites regional partners committed to enhancing infrastructure, launching collaborative marketing initiatives, investing in port facilities, and maintaining high operational standards throughout the cruise industry.
Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, emphasized that the expanded cooperation within the Cruise Arabia Alliance will considerably strengthen Oman’s cruise tourism sector. He stated, “These partnerships will introduce diverse tourism programmes and experiences, offering visitors a wider variety of options while boosting regional collaboration.”
Al Busaidy further noted that Oman continues to implement global best practices in developing its cruise sector through targeted plans and promotional campaigns that highlight the country’s unique attractions. The ministry is also working with alliance members to develop specialized travel packages tailored to different visitor preferences.
Khalid al Azri, Director of the Tourism Styles Department at the ministry, underscored Oman’s strategic location as a vital maritime gateway.
