Rising Meningitis Cases in Gaza: Implications for Businesses and Investors in Oman
Gaza, July 8 – The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported a significant increase in both suspected and confirmed cases of meningitis, particularly among children under the age of 5, who are the most vulnerable to the disease and its serious complications.
In a statement, the ministry highlighted that the decline in healthcare, due to the closure and destruction of hospitals and primary care centers, along with a severe shortage of medical supplies and childhood vaccinations, is impeding emergency response efforts.
The ministry pointed out that serious factors have created an environment in Gaza that is conducive to the spread of diseases, especially among the most vulnerable age groups, which include children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent appeal to all relevant authorities for immediate intervention to improve health and living conditions, in order to curb the spread of the disease and enhance the stock of necessary medications for confirmed cases.
