OCCI to Establish State-of-the-Art HQ in Madinat Al Irfan: What This Means for Business Growth and Investment Opportunities in Oman
MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has chosen Madinat Al Irfan as the location for its new headquarters, reinforcing the area’s role as a hub for organisations driving Oman’s economic future. This decision supports national initiatives aimed at situating key economic and administrative bodies within well-planned, connected districts designed for sustainable long-term operations.
Madinat Al Irfan, Oman’s largest integrated urban development, has been masterplanned by OMRAN Group to facilitate this transition. It offers entities close access to essential facilities, modern infrastructure, and a cohesive environment tailored for enduring institutional presence.
Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism and Chairman of OMRAN Group, remarked, “Madinat Al Irfan serves as the urban core for sectors vital to Oman’s economic diversification, including tourism, conventions, business services, and knowledge-based industries that generate skilled jobs and attract investment. The Chamber’s decision to establish its headquarters here underscores this direction and enhances Madinat Al Irfan’s status as a strategic base for institutions focusing on Oman. OMRAN Group remains dedicated to steering the city’s growth through projects and institutions that deliver lasting economic value and align with Oman Vision 2040.”
Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, “Relocating to Madinat Al Irfan marks a significant step in improving the services and representation we offer Oman’s expanding business community. Being based here will enable us to engage more effectively with businesses across various sectors, address their needs closely, and help foster a competitive and sustainable business environment. From this new headquarters, we will continue to promote private-sector participation and support national economic priorities.”
The planned 10,000-square-meter headquarters will be developed by Madinat Al Irfan on a site overlooking the forthcoming Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex and near the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, JW Marriott, and Crowne Plaza OCEC. This strategic location, surrounded by integrated hospitality and service infrastructure, will enhance direct interactions with the private sector while fulfilling the Chamber’s national mandate. The facility will accommodate core functions including administration, member services, and business support programmes. The project will soon proceed with the appointment of a detailed design consultant, followed by the selection of a construction contractor in line with established development procedures.
Eng Mohammed bin Abdullah al Salmi, General Manager of Madinat Al Irfan, added, “As Madinat Al Irfan advances its development, we focus on delivering projects aligned with national priorities and meeting the needs of entities establishing themselves in the city. With several projects underway, the timing of the Chamber’s new headquarters corresponds with ongoing progress across the city. Their presence adds an important institution that promotes economic activity, and we look forward to collaborating as Madinat Al Irfan continues to facilitate effective public-private partnerships.”
He further noted, “The OCCI headquarters will be designed to meet international sustainability standards, targeting WELL and LEED certifications. These standards will be integrated into the project’s technical plans, construction oversight, and commissioning to guarantee occupant wellbeing, strong energy performance, and long-term operational efficiency.”
The new OCCI headquarters will join a suite of national projects currently under development in Madinat Al Irfan, contributing to its emergence as Muscat’s new urban centre. As work continues across its various phases, Madinat Al Irfan is evolving through coordinated partnerships that bring vital facilities, services, and institutions to support the city’s pivotal role in Oman’s broader economic landscape.
