OTTCO’s Strategic Role in Advancing Oman’s Hydrogen Sector: What It Means for Investors and Business Owners
Oman Tank Terminal Company Reinforces Key Role in Nation’s Green Hydrogen Future at Oman 2025 Summit
MUSCAT, December 3, 2025 — Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO), a subsidiary of OQ Group, emphasized its pivotal role in Oman’s clean energy sector by participating in the Green Hydrogen Summit — Oman 2025, held in Muscat. The company highlighted two critical partnerships driving the Sultanate’s hydrogen ecosystem: its designation by Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) as the national champion for green ammonia storage and export, and its joint venture with Royal Vopak to build advanced storage infrastructure in Al Duqm.
In June 2025, Hydrom officially appointed OTTCO as the National Champion responsible for storing and exporting green ammonia across Dhofar and Al Duqm regions. This designation reflects Hydrom’s confidence in OTTCO’s robust midstream capabilities to support Oman’s emerging hydrogen value chain and enhance the country’s readiness for large-scale green fuel exports.
Simultaneously, OTTCO’s joint venture with Vopak, formalized through a shareholder agreement in October 2025, is advancing plans to develop integrated storage and terminal facilities in Al Duqm. This joint venture aims to cater to both traditional and renewable energy markets, solidifying the region’s status as a strategic energy hub supporting global energy transition efforts.
By showcasing these partnerships at the summit, OTTCO demonstrated how its expertise—from crude oil storage to green ammonia export infrastructure—is integral to realizing Oman’s clean energy ambitions.
Eng Salim bin Marhoon al Hashmi, Managing Director of OTTCO, stated, “Our collaboration with Hydrom, combined with our joint venture with Vopak, forms a solid foundation to drive Oman’s clean energy vision forward. These partnerships underline our commitment to developing infrastructure that supports the complete hydrogen and green ammonia value chains. OTTCO is proud to align with national priorities and help position Oman as a competitive global hub for sustainable energy.”
Eng Abdulaziz al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, remarked, “Every partnership within Oman’s hydrogen ecosystem plays a strategic role. Our collaboration with OTTCO is crucial in establishing an export-ready system that integrates project execution with storage, handling, and international offtake. As we move into the implementation phase, this cohesive effort among public champions ensures Oman’s hydrogen industry grows as a unified entity, built on solid infrastructure, policy frameworks, and market readiness.”
These partnerships highlight Oman’s proactive strategy to diversify its energy mix, strengthen industrial capabilities, and develop world-class infrastructure that meets global demand for zero-carbon fuels.
