Oman-India Strategic Partnership Strengthened: How New Joint Agreements and MOUs Boost Business Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India have signed an executive programme, a joint vision document, and four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during a ceremony held in Muscat. This event took place as part of the ongoing official visit of the Prime Minister of India to Oman.

The agreements include a Joint Maritime Vision Document and an executive programme aimed at cooperation in millet cultivation and innovation within the food and agricultural industries. Additionally, four MoUs were signed to enhance collaboration in the following areas: maritime heritage and museums, scientific research and skills development, agriculture and related sectors, and a partnership between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The signing was conducted by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister; Issa bin Saleh al Shibani, Oman’s Ambassador to India; and Zakariya bin Abdullah al Saadi, CEO of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representing India were Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, India’s Ambassador to Oman; and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Zakariya bin Abdullah al Saadi emphasized that the MoU between OCCI and CII aims to strengthen cooperation across diverse economic sectors. Planned initiatives include the exchange of joint trade delegations focusing on promising investment sectors in both countries, alongside efforts to attract Indian investors to Oman. The agreement also covers organizing events and exhibitions to promote Omani products and services in the Indian market.

Chandrajit Banerjee highlighted that the MoU will help expand partnerships in investment, commerce, and economic activities between Oman and India. He noted numerous promising opportunities exist in education, technology, industry, infrastructure, services, and tourism, expressing optimism for continued close collaboration between the two nations.
