Celebrating Police Day: How ROP Cadet Graduation and Achievements Strengthen Oman’s Security Sector for Business Growth
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) is commemorating Police Day on January 5 with vibrant celebrations and the graduation of new officers. Renowned as one of the world’s top police forces, the ROP has earned 35 international accolades for its ongoing efforts to digitize public services and maintain its standards.
Colonel Abdullah bin Salem al Buraiki, Director of the Police Sports Federation, highlighted significant achievements for the Royal Oman Police Shooting Team, including securing third place in the Sultan’s Armed Forces Shooting Championship and the Arab Police Shooting Championship in Tunisia for both men and women. Additionally, they won first place in the women’s category and second place in the men’s category at the 43rd Annual Shooting Championship in the UAE and secured second place at the Gulf Police One-Armed Shooting Championship in Kuwait.
The annual festivities will be graced by Shaikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, as the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa hosts the graduation of officer cadets and a skills development course for officers. This year’s Police Day reflects not only the formation and achievements of the ROP but also underscores its contributions to national development in various fields, including sports.
The initiative aims to equip police personnel with essential athletic skills through regular sporting activities, diverse training programs, and participation in both domestic and international competitions. Colonel al Buraiki noted that the Federation’s successful strategy has significantly enhanced performance and results.
