Karwa Motors has produced and supplied approximately 900 vehicles of various types to the Omani market in 2025, marking a significant step toward establishing a domestic automotive manufacturing base and reducing the country’s dependence on imported vehicles.
Dr. Ibrahim bin Ali al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer of Karwa Motors, stated that this milestone highlights the company’s commitment to building a national automotive industry capable of fulfilling local demand while advancing industrial diversification efforts.
The majority of the production comprised school buses, with 822 units delivered as part of the national school vehicle replacement program. These vehicles comply with international safety standards and local regulatory requirements.
Additionally, Karwa Motors supplied 100 buses to various public and private sector organisations, supporting integrated transport solutions tailored for corporate use and mass transit. The company also delivered 30 specialised buses to the oil and gas industry, manufactured to meet rigorous safety protocols established by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
Dr. al Balushi emphasized that these deliveries reflect increasing confidence in locally manufactured vehicles and demonstrate the capabilities of Oman’s automotive sector to provide high-quality transport solutions.
In a move to bolster domestic supply chains, Karwa Motors signed four cooperation agreements with Omani companies to create an integrated local supply network covering industrial components, technical services, and logistics. These partnerships aim to raise local content, enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce import reliance, and involve national companies in specialised industrial value chains to ensure long-term sustainability.
Shahla bint Salem Al Zadjali from Procurement and Logistics at Karwa Automotive noted that these agreements followed comprehensive evaluations of local suppliers’ capabilities and underscore Karwa Motors’ dedication to building resilient supply chains and strategic alliances with qualified national firms.
These initiatives are part of Karwa Motors’ phased plan to localise expertise, transfer technical knowledge, and boost the competitiveness of Omani automotive products in both domestic and regional markets, aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
