‘Tumouhi’ Initiative Launches to Empower 50 SMEs: Key Insights for Business Growth in Oman
Approximately 50 Omani entrepreneurs from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are taking part in the second edition of the ‘Tumouhi’ training program, launched by Oman Arab Bank (OAB) to promote the growth of SMEs.
This initiative, announced during a recent press conference, highlights a strategic commitment to bolstering SMEs and enhancing their role in the national economy. The program aims to provide a comprehensive development platform that goes beyond traditional banking initiatives, emphasizing capacity building, empowerment, and sustainable growth.
Oman is increasing its support for SMEs through specialized training programs and initiatives in collaboration with various stakeholders. The goal is to elevate technical and administrative efficiency while enhancing local value and sustainability.
Sulaiman Al Harthy, CEO of Oman Arab Bank, emphasized that the program intends to educate and train SME owners while providing them opportunities to share experiences and contribute to the program’s success. This initiative closely aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, showcasing OAB’s commitment as a vital partner in economic development through integrated financial and non-financial support.
Khaled Al Riyami, Head of the SME Department, noted that this year’s program will include individual interviews with business owners, differentiating it from previous editions. Currently, the initiative spans five governorates, with plans to expand to a sixth, selecting companies based on their sector and capabilities.
Al Riyami explained that the program consists of a three-month training phase followed by a five-month incubation period in collaboration with the Oman Academy for Small and Medium Enterprises. The initiative will be rolled out in several phases throughout 2026, accommodating 50 SMEs in each phase. It will commence with a national campaign for applications, leading to a rigorous selection process that ensures geographical and sectoral diversity.
Participating companies will undertake a comprehensive development journey that includes training, mentorship, and incubation, with a focus on business development, financial management, marketing, and governance, tailored to market demands to foster sustainable opportunities.
In addition to direct support for the SMEs, the initiative emphasizes showcasing its impact through ongoing media coverage that highlights success stories and the development of entrepreneurs. This approach reflects a commitment to long-term engagement with the entrepreneurial community.
The initiative will culminate in a graduation and awards ceremony at the end of the year, celebrating the accomplishments of the participating companies and setting the stage for future editions.
