Over 600,000 People Attend Muscat Nights: Implications for Local Businesses and Investment Opportunities

MUSCAT: Over the past two weeks, more than 600,000 visitors from around the globe have attended the Muscat Nights events. This diverse attendance includes individuals from countries such as India, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, and Tanzania, highlighting significant interest from various regions, particularly within the Arab world and South Asia. The influx of winter tourists enjoying Oman’s mild climate and vibrant cultural offerings—ranging from food and crafts to performances—has been noted by the Muscat Municipality, the primary organizer of the event.

A representative from the Muscat Municipality remarked, "There has been an increasing demand for Muscat Nights festivities from both local and international markets, resulting in visitor numbers surpassing 600,000 in just the first two weeks."

Key venues for Muscat Nights, including Al Qurum Natural Park, Al Amerat Public Park, the Oman Automobile Association, the Royal Opera House Muscat, Al Seeb Beach (Sur Al Hadid), Qurayat, and Wadi Al Khoudh, have all experienced significant turnout daily from 4 PM to 11 PM, with attendance peaking on weekends.

Additionally, several shopping malls have collaborated with the Muscat Municipality to enhance the month-long celebration of global traditions and cultures, offering a showcase of Omani traditional life and culinary delights to a wider audience.

In its previous edition, Muscat Nights attracted nearly 1.7 million visitors over 41 days, establishing itself as a key event in the winter tourism calendar. The festival also drew a broad spectrum of international attendees, including Europeans and North Americans, who sought cultural experiences in the pleasant winter weather. The Global Village, an integral part of the festival, featured country-specific stalls promoting art, food, and crafts that celebrated a rich mix of traditional Omani culture and international influences, creating a unique experience in the Gulf region.
