Muscat: The third edition of the national discounts and promotions campaign, ‘Oman Celebrates,’ came to a successful close yesterday during a ceremony led by Eng. Ghalib bin Said al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry.
Running from January 11 to February 11, 2026, this event was organized in collaboration with various government and private entities, including the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Muscat Municipality, the Consumer Protection Authority, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada), the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oman Arab Bank, and Visa International. This initiative underscores a national partnership aimed at strengthening the economy and boosting commercial activities.
The campaign demonstrated its success with 1,574 participating retail outlets across Oman, a significant increase from the 814 stores in the previous edition. This doubling of participation reflects growing engagement from the commercial sector and highlights the campaign’s establishment as an annual economic milestone that positively impacts the local market.
Consumer interest was robust throughout the governorates, which revitalized markets and shopping centers, enhanced purchasing power, and stimulated economic activity, particularly with the approach of the holy month of Ramadhan.
Nasra bint Sultan al Habsi, Director General of Trade at the Ministry, confirmed that the campaign featured genuine discounts starting at 30 percent along with a variety of promotional offerings, including raffles, prizes, and immediate gifts—all governed by clear regulations to ensure transparency and consumer protection.
“The campaign showcased a clear synergy between regulatory frameworks and digital transformation,” noted Azza bint Ibrahim al Kindi, Director of Commercial Affairs and E-Commerce, highlighting how electronic services facilitated participation procedures, expedited application approvals, and improved operational efficiency.
Ali bin Hamad al Maamari, Director of the Licensing Department, emphasized that the “Oman Celebrates” campaign has evolved into a national platform for enhancing market confidence and regulating commercial offers. He pointed out that the Licensing Department was committed to streamlining the processes for issuing and approving discount licenses while maintaining transparency and consumer rights.
From a consumer standpoint, Asil bint Maktoum bin Rashid al Abri commended the third edition, noting significant improvements in the diversity and quality of offers. She remarked that the campaign spanned various sectors, including technology, fashion, and household goods, and that the credibility of the discounts has bolstered public trust, making it a highly anticipated annual event.
The ceremony concluded with acknowledgments to supporting and participating entities for their contributions to the third edition’s success, symbolizing the collaboration between government regulation and commercial initiative in serving the national economy and society.
