Annual Increment for Omani Employees: Implications for Business Operations and Workforce Costs
Muscat: The Ministry of Labor has announced that Omani employees qualify for a periodic bonus if they have been with their employer for at least six months and have not received a poor rating in their annual performance evaluation.
Employees have the right to review and contest their annual performance ratings through the established complaints and grievances system.
Furthermore, the Ministry has urged private sector companies to comply with the requirement to pay the special periodic allowance to Omani workers, effective January 1. This initiative falls under the provisions of the Labor Law and related ministerial decisions.
Omani employees in the private sector are entitled to an annual increment of three percent of their basic wage, which is payable on January 1 each year.
