OQ’s MSX Listing: A Boost for Investor Confidence and Opportunities in Oman’s Market
MUSCAT, SEPTEMBER 24 – OQ’s Capital Markets Day, which coincided with the annual MEIRA conference, highlighted Oman’s increasing significance in the regional capital markets sector.
The MEIRA 2025 event drew over 900 attendees, including 100 institutional investors, with OQ leading discussions on themes such as transparency, governance, and sustainable growth. The company’s listed subsidiaries on the Muscat Stock Exchange boast a combined market capitalization exceeding RO 4 billion, alongside dividend distributions totaling RO 212 million year-to-date.
In presenting a consolidated investment narrative through its subsidiaries, OQ emphasized the resilience of Oman’s energy sector as a crucial foundation for financial transformation, stressing its role as a driver for economic diversification and sustainable development.
Azzan al Abdullatif, OQ’s Chief Portfolio Officer, highlighted the significance of this occasion, stating, "For the first time in the Sultanate of Oman, OQ has hosted a Capital Markets Day for its Muscat Stock Exchange-listed companies. This landmark event, held alongside the MEIRA Conference, underscores OQ’s commitment to enhancing its engagement with the investment community."
Al Abdullatif added that the initiative seeks to strengthen relations with investors by providing timely updates on the performance and prospects of OQ’s listed companies—factors that have a direct impact on share value and future growth. "OQ is dedicated to fostering closer relationships with investors, enhancing transparency, and promoting open communication with the market," he affirmed.
Eng Mansoor bin Ali al Abdali, CEO of OQ Gas Networks, noted the active participation during OQ Capital Markets Day, where the company presented its recent financial and operational achievements. He observed that there was considerable interest from investors outside Oman, indicating the forum’s success in showcasing the strength and potential of local corporations. He emphasized that this initiative will further develop and expand Oman’s capital market.
OQ’s subsidiaries highlighted their unique strengths: OQ Exploration & Production prioritized shareholder returns through dividends and share buybacks; OQ Gas Networks emphasized a regulated model and predictable cash flows; OQ Base Industries focused on financial discipline and growth; Abraj Energy Services showcased operational expertise; and Musandam Power Company maintained a consistent dividend track record.
This forum builds on four Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) launched over the past two years, collectively reshaping Oman’s capital markets, drawing sustained international investment, and adding over 6 billion shares to trading volumes. These offerings, supported by accredited market makers, have enhanced transparency, liquidity, and investor confidence. A high-level panel discussion titled "Developing Oman’s Stock Exchange: How the Energy Sector Can Help Attract Investors" brought together prominent regulators and decision-makers to explore the sector’s potential for boosting investor participation.
OQ Group CEO Ashraf Hamed al Maamari remarked on the event, stating, "By hosting Capital Markets Day concurrently with MEIRA 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to transparent, data-driven communication with the investor community and to fostering broader market participation."
