RO 1.5 Billion Projects Pipeline: Key Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs in Oman
MUSCAT: The Projects, Tenders, and Local Content Authority has announced a development pipeline exceeding RO 1.5 billion during the Government Projects Forum 2026 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. This initiative outlines approximately 10,000 tenders planned across 57 government entities.
Engineer Bader bin Salem al Maamari, Chairman of the Authority, highlighted that the pipeline includes more than RO 475 million in approved developments and over RO 1 billion in projects currently under evaluation. This underscores the extensive investment opportunities available for local companies and reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing private sector involvement.
Moreover, opportunities allocated specifically to national companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) surpass RO 90 million in approved projects and over RO 203 million in projects under consideration. This initiative aims to bolster local supply chains and increase domestic economic value. Key sectors anticipated to drive the most tendering activity include construction, procurement, public services, information technology, electromechanical contracting, and consultancy services, ensuring widespread participation across the governorates of Oman.
The Authority also provided a comprehensive overview of infrastructure projects, which encompass ports, roads, dams, public buildings, utilities, pipeline networks, and well-drilling activities. Detailed tender schedules and project readiness statuses were shared to facilitate early planning for companies. Notably, Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of tenders under study at 413, followed by Al Batinah South with 129 and Al Batinah North with 101. For approved tenders, Muscat again led with 314, succeeded by Al Sharqiyah South with 111 and Dhofar with 69.
Engineer Saeed bin Hamad al Amri, Director General of Tenders, revealed that contracts awarded by the Tender Board surpassed RO 1.7 billion in 2025, marking an accelerating trend in development spending. He urged companies to enhance the quality of their bids, encourage fair competition, and strengthen local content through the integration of national products, localization of expertise, and partnerships with SMEs.
Infrastructure projects constituted over 58 percent of the approved project values, followed by supplies, services, and construction-related activities, indicating a sustained government focus on strategic infrastructure expansion.
The forum also hosted specialized dialogue sessions addressing construction, procurement, public services, and information technology sectors, discussing future project pipelines, tendering procedures, evaluation standards, and sustainability considerations. During the event, the Authority introduced the “Esnad” mobile application, which allows companies and beneficiaries to track tenders, access procurement data, and manage procedures digitally, thereby enhancing transparency, governance, and efficiency within the national tendering system. — ONA
