Pact Signed for 3D-Printed Social Complex in Al Duqm: What This Means for Investment and Development Opportunities in Oman

MUSCAT: Marafiq and the German University of Technology in Oman (GUTech) have announced a groundbreaking partnership to develop the Marafiq Social Complex in Al Duqm, marking one of the first major projects in Oman to utilize advanced 3D printing technology for construction.

As part of this collaboration, Marafiq will finance the project under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, while GUTech will oversee the design, 3D printing, and management of the complex upon completion. This initiative underscores a mutual commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community development in Al Duqm.

The Marafiq Social Complex is designed to be a dynamic community hub, featuring a nursery, an autism centre, a children’s playground, a multipurpose hall, and retail spaces dedicated to supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A special women’s building will provide empowerment and entrepreneurship programs, enhanced by a coffee shop and library to encourage learning and creativity.

In alignment with Marafiq’s environmental goals, the complex will implement wastewater recycling and reuse for irrigation, fostering sustainable landscaping and greener surroundings.

GUTech’s innovative application of 3D printing technology represents a move towards faster, more efficient, and eco-friendly construction methods, setting a new standard for social infrastructure in Oman. Through this partnership, Marafiq and GUTech aim to promote innovation-driven community development and inspire future projects that blend technology, sustainability, and social impact in Al Duqm and beyond.
