Approval Required for Using National Currency in Ads: What This Means for Businesses in Oman
Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued a warning regarding the unauthorized use of the national currency’s image by certain companies for advertising and promotional purposes.
According to Article 43 of the Banking Law, issued under Royal Decree No. 2/2025, using the Sultanate of Oman’s currency for any purpose other than as a legal tender for final settlement constitutes a violation of the Central Bank of Oman’s rights.
The CBO has therefore advised companies to immediately cease using the currency’s image in their advertising materials without prior approval from the Central Bank.
