Energy Ministry Reviews Mining Digital Services: What This Means for Business Efficiency and Investment Opportunities in Oman
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), has conducted a series of meetings and field visits with mining companies across multiple governorates to evaluate operational challenges and the effectiveness of digital services.
Officials reported that the initiative involved nine visits to OCCI branches, during which companies provided feedback on licensing procedures, application processes, and transaction handling. Key issues raised included service timelines, procedural clarity, and accessibility of online platforms.
The Ministry stated that the feedback gathered is currently under review for integration into forthcoming development plans, accompanied by performance indicators to monitor progress. Upgrades to several digital services related to mining are planned to be implemented in phases.
Discussions also focused on the use of the Ministry’s digital platforms, including the Taqa investment portal, which facilitates tendering and licensing in the energy and minerals sectors, alongside other systems for supplier registration, emissions reporting, and data management.
This initiative is part of the broader government efforts under the Tahawul programme, aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and private sector engagement within Oman’s mining industry.
