Green Build Oman Forum: How the Shift to Low-Carbon Construction Can Boost Your Business and Investment Opportunities

MUSCAT: The Green Build Oman Forum 2025 has officially commenced in Muscat, organised by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), establishing itself as a vital platform for advancing sustainable construction in the Sultanate.

The two-day event, inaugurated by Dr Saeed bin Hamad al Rubaie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), brings together policymakers, industry experts, engineers, and sustainability specialists. The forum aims to promote practical approaches to improving construction quality through environmentally friendly materials, enhanced energy efficiency, and sustainable project delivery methods.

Discussions focus on accelerating the transition to a low-emission built environment by encouraging the use of green materials, energy-efficient designs, circular economy principles, and modern digital technologies. A dedicated panel addressed the challenges in adopting eco-friendly materials, including the need to update technical specifications to meet evolving sustainability standards.

The forum also featured presentations on the Oman Building Code, emphasising its critical role in guiding sustainable construction practices. Participants explored innovations in low-carbon building materials and engaged in technical sessions on energy efficiency, including digitally driven architectural design, thermal energy storage, and air-conditioning technologies tailored to the Gulf climate.

On the second day, the focus will shift to enhancing implementation efficiency and promoting the circular economy. Panels will cover best practices in project execution, construction recycling solutions, and the integration of advanced technologies to strengthen infrastructure sustainability. This forum takes place amid a period of rapid infrastructure growth in Oman, with sustainability increasingly embedded in national development strategies.
