Khazaen Port Joins CMA CGM Network: What This Means for Business Growth and Investment Opportunities in Oman

Khazaen Dry Port, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, has officially joined the global shipping network CMA CGM, becoming an authorized final destination for receiving container shipments. This significant development strengthens the port’s integration with international shipping lines and offers expanded opportunities for local importers and exporters to benefit from a more efficient and flexible global distribution system.

Recently, Khazaen Dry Port received its first container shipment under the CMA CGM network. The shipment arrived from international ports via Sohar Port, serving as a transit hub. Thanks to Khazaen’s advanced operational capabilities and state-of-the-art technical infrastructure, customs clearance and handling were completed directly at the port.

Khazaen Dry Port provides several operational advantages that support both local and international trade. These include free storage periods of up to 14 days for loaded containers and 21 days for empty containers. The port also offers specialized services for refrigerated containers, such as electrical hookups and pre-trip inspections. Additionally, on-site food and agricultural inspection facilities help expedite the entry of goods into the local market, thereby enhancing supply chain efficiency.

This achievement is the result of a strategic partnership between Asyad Group, through Asyad Ports and Free Zones, and the global CMA CGM Group. The service was activated via a flexible customs corridor developed in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Customs Department.

The new customs corridor allows containers to be transported with a “shipping agent’s seal” in place of traditional customs sealing procedures. It also introduces the option of a “written financial guarantee” as an alternative to bank guarantees. These innovations reduce costs for operators, promote direct connectivity, and improve overall logistical efficiency.
