MoU Signed for 2nd Edition of “Young Shapers” Programme: What This Means for Emerging Entrepreneurs and Business Growth in Oman

MUSCAT: Oman International Development and Investment Company SAOG (Ominvest), a prominent regional investment firm, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Outward Bound Oman to launch the second edition of the “Ominvest Young Shapers” programme. This initiative underscores Ominvest’s ongoing dedication to enhancing leadership skills among Omani youth.

Outward Bound Oman, in partnership with Global Shapers Muscat Hub, will conduct six extensive leadership courses that will benefit 100 participants through to the end of 2025. The programme is designed for a diverse group including job seekers, students, employees, and entrepreneurs from across Oman. The inaugural 2024 edition successfully trained 95 participants using experiential outdoor leadership activities.

The curriculum aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing quality education, leadership development, digital skills, and climate awareness. Participants will engage in practical, real-world challenges set in various distinctive Omani environments, such as Salalah, Jabal Akhdar, and the Sharqiyah Sands. This immersive learning model aims to foster resilience, character, and a profound appreciation for Oman’s natural heritage.

Badar Awadh al Shanfari, Chief Operating Officer of Ominvest, highlighted the programme’s significance, stating, “Our core strategy at Ominvest is to create lasting value for all our stakeholders by fostering sustainable growth, and that starts with investing in people. The Young Shapers programme is a powerful example of this strategy in action. By equipping young Omanis with critical leadership skills, we’re directly contributing to Oman Vision 2040’s goals of economic diversification and job creation. These are the future innovators and entrepreneurs who will drive progress and ensure the long-term prosperity of our nation.”

Waleed Nasser al Yarubi, Chief People, Corporate Communication and Sustainability Officer, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with Ominvest’s broader sustainability objectives. “This partnership with Outward Bound Oman is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy, which is guided by our commitment to making a positive impact on society and the environment. By focusing the curriculum on UN SDGs such as quality education and climate awareness, we are not only developing individual leaders but also empowering them to be agents of change. This initiative exemplifies how we integrate social and environmental progress into our business goals, creating shared value for our company, communities, and the future of Oman.”

Suleiman bin Masoud al Harthy, Chairman of Outward Bound Oman, expressed enthusiasm for continuing the partnership: “We are delighted to renew our collaboration with Ominvest and continue offering young Omanis the chance to develop vital life skills while deepening their connection to their natural heritage. This programme moves beyond traditional classroom learning by immersing participants in Oman’s breathtaking landscapes.”

This ongoing collaboration reflects a commitment to nurturing the next generation of Omani leaders through innovative, impactful educational experiences.
