Najla Al Jamali Appointed President of BP Oman: What This Leadership Change Means for Business and Investment in Oman

MUSCAT: Global energy leader BP has announced the appointment of Najla Zuhair al Jamali as President of BP Oman. Al Jamali joins BP from OQ, where she served as Chief Executive of OQ Alternative Energy.

Beginning her international career as a reservoir engineer in Oman, al Jamali brings over 20 years of experience in the energy sector. Her extensive background encompasses upstream, downstream, and commercial roles at prominent companies including Shell, Schlumberger, and Takamul Investment Company, a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company. Notably, she will be the first woman to hold the position of President at BP Oman.

Nader Zaki, BP’s Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, said, “I am very pleased to welcome Najla to our team as President of BP Oman. Her wealth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to support the growth of Oman’s energy sector. This appointment marks a historic milestone for BP, as Najla is the first female Omani country manager for BP in the country. I also wish to extend my gratitude to Yousuf al Ojaili for his leadership and congratulate him on his retirement after a decade of excellence with BP and 39 years in the energy industry.”

Najla Zuhair al Jamali expressed enthusiasm about her new role, stating, “I am excited to join BP Oman and work with the team to continue supplying one-third of Oman’s gas. I look forward to collaborating with the Omani government and partners to explore opportunities for expanding our operations within the country.”

Al Jamali will officially join BP in September, assuming full responsibilities after a transition period with Yousuf al Ojaili, who will retire at the end of 2025.
