Oman Chamber Leads Business Delegation to China: Key Opportunities for Omani Investors and Entrepreneurs

MUSCAT: An official delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), representing the North and South Al Batinah branches along with a group of Omani business owners, will depart tomorrow, Friday, to attend the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China. The event is scheduled from October 17 to 24, 2025.

This visit is part of OCCI’s ongoing strategy to bolster Omani products, expand export markets, and explore advanced industrial and commercial technologies globally. The mission also aims to foster partnerships and identify investment opportunities with international firms.

Eng. Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, Second Vice Chairman of OCCI, Chairman of the South Al Batinah branch, and head of the delegation, highlighted the fair’s importance. He stated, “The Canton Fair is one of Asia’s leading trade exhibitions, providing Omani entrepreneurs a valuable platform to connect with global manufacturers and suppliers, explore partnerships, and exchange expertise that benefits the national economy.”

Al Saadi added that the delegation’s participation seeks to balance exports and imports by promoting Omani products in China, showcasing the quality, innovation, and unique narratives underlying the Sultanate’s industries. He expressed optimism that the visit would pave the way for sustained industrial collaborations.

Eng. Saeed bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of OCCI’s North Al Batinah branch, described the visit as a crucial opportunity to highlight Omani capabilities, strengthen cooperation with key Chinese companies, and enhance foreign trade relations to benefit Omani business owners and investors. He emphasized the fair’s role as a vital global platform for knowledge exchange and product promotion amid intense international competition.

During their visit, the delegation will attend the exhibition, meet with Chinese company representatives, and conduct field visits to industrial zones to further business development and knowledge sharing.

Trade figures indicate robust ties between the two countries: in 2024, China’s exports to Oman reached approximately $5.8 billion, mainly consisting of machinery, electrical appliances, and metal products. Conversely, Omani exports to China amounted to about $597 million in 2023, including organic chemicals, plastics, minerals, fishery products, and oil derivatives.

China is Oman’s second-largest import partner, with imports valued at around OMR 854 million in the first half of 2025. Oman has also expanded its export portfolio to China with fish products under new initiatives.

Established in 1957, the Canton Fair is among the world’s largest and longest-running trade exhibitions, attracting over 25,000 companies and 200,000 buyers from more than 200 countries annually.
